April McGee
April McGee is a native Houstonian and active community volunteer. She and her husband, Wells McGee, dedicate their time and giving to Children’s Charities, Mental Health and Animal Rescue Organizations.
April believes to whom much is given, much is expected and is passing this life motto along to her daughter Claire. Together the family works to serve others through organizations like Kids’ Meals Houston and Search’s House of Tiny Treasures Preschool. With her family, April loves to travel and attend musical theatre shows.
This year April served as Co-Chair for the Houston Botanical Gardens Luncheon and Ronald McDonald House Houston Gala. In past years, The McGee’s served as event chairs or co-chairs for Young Audiences of Houston 60th Anniversary Gala, re:MIND Mental Health Support Luncheon, Texas Center for The Missing Gala, Freedom Place Luncheon, Arms Wide Adoption Services Luncheon and Casa De Esperanza Gala.
April and Wells are honored to have been the recipients of the Ruth Burrell Legacy Award from Kids’ Meals Houston 2019 and The Gabriel Lester Hero Award from Texas Center for the Missing 2023.
Houston Institutions April and her family proudly support include Memorial Hermann Foundation, Houston Zoo, Ronald McDonald House Houston, The Menil Collection, Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation, Houston SPCA, Hits Theatre and The Menninger Clinic.
April volunteers her time with Kids’ Meals Houston, The Kinkaid School, Search’s House of Tiny Treasures and the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Guild.
